Movie Responses for Blog 1

In response to Caroline Fletcher:

I’m glad to hear that Safe Haven was a good movie! I read the book and loved it, but was unsure about going to see the movie. I definitely plan on trying to watch it soon. I enjoyed the twist in the ending of the book excited to see how the movie portrays it!

In response to Bree Haggard:

I’ve really been look forward to seeing the New Monster’s Inc! I loved the one that came out years ago. I think it’s pretty cool that the characters are now in college making them our age. It will be interesting to see how the characters handle their college experience.

Blog Post 1- Movie Review- Les Mis

Les Mis featuring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried would have to be the best movie I have seen so far this year!

The movie released in December 2012 is a film rendition of the staged musical which was adapted from the original novel published in 1862. The scene for the movie is set during the French Revolution, in the early 19th century. Although the storyline follows historical facts from the war, all characters from the musical film are fictional. The story follows the life of frenchman Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) during the time of the war. After Valjean finishes paying his dues in the pin, he struggles to adapt to his new life outside of prison. During Valjean’s struggle he meets Fantine (Anne Hathaway). Fantine tells Valjean of her young daughter, who is living with new guardians due to Hathaway’s struggle as a single mother during the tough war time. Valjean later goes onto rescue Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) from the new guardians. The story continues to follow the struggles Valjean, Cosette, and Fantine face throughout the war.

This movie is one of the best films I have seen in awhile! The movie was very well put together with the all-star cast playing a huge part in the great acting that led to the film’s success. The movie is worth seeing for anyone who is yet to see it.

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman greatly fulfilled their roles as their early 19th century characters, building a connection with the audience to the characters in the movie.

However, the protagonist of the film played by Hugh Jackman ruined many great moments of the musical. His singing consistently sounded off throughout the movie creating a particularly annoying distraction. Jackman’s usually good acting skills may have saved him from his performance if his solos were cut to a minimum.

The movie is fantastic and a must-see (if you can handle Jackman’s singing).

I would rate this movie a B+!
